Hybrid Layer 2
Welcome! In this guide, we'll dive into a fascinating method to safeguard and enhance the accessibility of data on our blockchain network, dubbed the Interesting Network. We're employing Compressed Non-Fungible Tokens (cNFTs) on the Solana blockchain to create a robust backup system. This setup forms a hybrid Layer 2 solution, combining the strengths of both networks.
The Concept
The interesting network is a specialized blockchain network utilizing a unique consensus mechanism across trusted decentralized nodes. To bolster its data integrity and availability, we're adopting a strategy to back up data onto the Solana blockchain. Why Solana? Well, it's known for its high throughput and low transaction costs, making it ideal for handling large volumes of data efficiently. They are also our birthplace as a project, and many of our users can benefit from using them together.
The Role of cNFTs
cNFTs come into play as our chosen medium for data backup. Why cNFTs, you might ask? They are an economical and flexible option for representing data on the blockchain. Unlike traditional NFTs, cNFTs are lightweight and cost-effective, perfect for our needs since we're not transferring them to individuals but using them for data representation.
The Process
Batch Processing
Data Collection: The Interesting Network continuously gathers and processes data. As new blocks are produced, relevant data is earmarked for backup. Our global peer network will pick up jobs and process them as required, using our partner Lattica Network.
Batch Creation: This data is then batched together at predetermined intervals. Batching is crucial as it optimizes the process, reducing the frequency and thus the cost of transactions on Solana.
cNFT Creation
Data Conversion: The batched data is converted into a format suitable for cNFT representation. This includes compressing and encrypting the data to ensure security and efficiency.
cNFT Minting: Using the Solana blockchain, these data batches are minted as cNFTs. The minting process leverages Solana's low-cost structure, making it economically viable for regular backups.
Verification and Storage
Verification: Once minted, the cNFTs undergo verification to ensure the data integrity is maintained.
Storage: These cNFTs are then stored on the Solana blockchain, providing a decentralized and secure backup.
Advantages of This Hybrid Layer 2 Approach
Enhanced Data Integrity: By backing up data on Solana, we add an extra layer of security and redundancy, safeguarding against data loss or corruption.
Cost-Effectiveness: Utilizing cNFTs for data representation is a budget-friendly approach, especially given the high efficiency and low transaction costs of the Solana blockchain.
Improved Availability: Storing data on the Solana blockchain ensures higher availability, making it accessible even if the primary Interesting Network faces downtime.
Scalability: This method scales well with the growth of the Interesting Network, as Solana can handle large volumes of transactions seamlessly.
By implementing this hybrid Layer 2 solution using cNFTs on Solana for backing up data from the interesting network not only enhances data security but also ensures high availability and integrity. It's a practical, cost-effective approach that leverages the strengths of both blockchain technologies, setting a new standard in blockchain data management.
